Att bättre förstå vilda djur är avgörande för en hållbar framtid
Research in zoos can contribute important knowledge about animal species that is difficult to obtain solely through studies in nature, as we in zoos can get close to the animals in a different way than in the wild. The results from this research not only provide a broader understanding of the subject but also give the zoo world valuable information about how we should keep our animals to offer them the best possible welfare.
As a member of the zoo organizations EAZA and SDF, which to varying degrees support different research projects, we always try to accommodate requests for materials and data etc. for research if it is compatible with good animal welfare. Research intended for publication in scientific journals is prioritized.
